Bill Wolfer is a talented session musician from Wyoming who gained recognition in the Soul Music scene. In 1982, he unexpectedly received a chance to record his own album, which led to the release of "Wolf" under Constellation Records. This album showcased his versatility, featuring a blend of pop, soul, funk, and early smooth jazz, with notable contributions from artists like Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. Although "Wolf" was only a modest hit, it became a sought-after record, eventually being reissued as "Call Me: The Best of Bill Wolfer" in 2002. Wolfer's career continued as he produced and performed with various acts, including Shalamar, Vanity, and Dynasty. He collaborated with Jon Gibson on several projects and later recorded three successful instrumental albums for the New Age label Nouveau. After a brief hiatus, Wolfer returned in 2000 with his group Mamborama, focusing on traditional Cuban jazz. Their critically acclaimed releases, particularly "Night of the Living Mambo," helped introduce the genre to a wider audience. In 2008, Mamborama's "Directamente Al Mambo" received a nomination for a Cubadisco, the Cuban equivalent of a Grammy.
