Billy Always, born in 1955 in Chicago, Illinois, is a notable figure in the music industry and the Godson of the Queen of Gospel Music, Mahalia Jackson. He began his musical journey as the lead voice in his church choir and, at the age of nine, was mentored by Mahalia Jackson. By the age of 11, he was touring and recording with his cousin, Reverend Isaac Whittman. In 1969, at just 14 years old, Billy became a protégé of Aretha Franklin, who provided him with studio time through her production company, Do It To It Productions. He recorded a single titled "Do It Again," but it was never released. In 1975, he was introduced to Barrett Strong by Aretha's backing singer, Evelyn Green, leading to the creation of several songs, including "Man Up In The Sky," which was recorded in both 1976 and 1989. In 1979, with financial support from a friend and attorney, Billy released his debut solo album, "Billy Always," which he self-wrote, performed, and produced. Although the album was not officially released, two songs, "I Mean To Love You" and "Some Kind Of Love," gained popularity as bootlegged singles. The following year, he collaborated with renowned producer Willie Mitchell, releasing "Didn't We Do It" as the first single on Waylo Records in Memphis. In 1981, Billy co-wrote
