Billy Idol is a British post-punk and hard rock musician, songwriter, and artist, born on November 30, 1955, in Stanmore, London, England. He first gained fame as a founding member of a London punk rock band, alongside Tony James, which was active from 1976 until its disbandment in 1981. Idol later launched a successful solo career and became an international rock star after the release of his second studio album in 1983. He subsequently moved to the United States to further pursue his career. His music videos were widely recognized for their frequent airplay on the emerging television network.
