Billy Ocean, born on January 21, 1950, in Trinidad, is a renowned Caribbean singer who gained significant recognition in the mid-1980s. He was one of the first Caribbean artists to be embraced by MTV, which led to a series of Top Ten hits. Raised in the UK, he initially recorded under the name Les Charles in the early 1970s before adopting the name Billy Ocean by the mid-1970s.
