Billy ‘Red’ Love was an American blues singer, pianist, songwriter, arranger, and bandleader, born on December 8, 1929, in Memphis, Tennessee. He is best known for his recording "Juiced," which he wrote, sang, and played piano on, although it was released on Chess under the name Jackie Brenston, who was not involved in the track. Throughout the early 1950s, Billy worked as a session musician at Sun Records, where he recorded eight sessions from 1951 to 1954. While some of these sessions resulted in a couple of releases on Chess, most remained unreleased as Sun shifted its focus to artists like Elvis. During the 1950s, he led a road band and in the 1960s, he served as a pianist and arranger at The Cotton Club in Colorado Springs. Billy ‘Red’ Love passed away on May 2, 1975, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
