Bis is a Scottish indie pop band formed in 1994, consisting of members Steven Clark (Sci-fi Steven), John Clark (John Disco), and Amanda MacKinnon (Manda Rin). The band's name, which rhymes with 'this', is derived from "Black Iron Skyline," a lyric from the song "Twilight of a Champion." They broke up in 2003 but briefly reformed in 2007 for a series of concerts. In 2009, they reformed again and released a new album in 2014. Bis is known for being the first band to appear on the classic "Top Of The Pops" TV program in early 1996 without having signed a record deal, performing their track "Kandy Pop." Although they were not officially signed to a multi-part deal at that time, they had previously released a 7" on a Spanish label, and "Kandy Pop" was set to be released on the label the week after their TOTP appearance.
