The Black Albinos were a Dutch Indo rock/beat band formed in The Hague in the autumn of 1960 by Joop van Heusden. The group initially played instrumental rock & roll characterized by heavy echo and featured various singers throughout their performances. The first lineup included Joop Jonkers (vocals, stage name Dean Holley), Joop van Heusden (lead guitar), Simon Lardenoy (bass guitar), Martin de Roo (drums), and Paul v.d. Voort Maarschalk (rhythm guitar, who later joined the Specials). The band's name, "The Black Albinos," was inspired by the contrast in hair color among its members, as only Joop van Heusden was noticeably blond. In 1962, The Black Albinos made their radio debut on the program "Tot uw orders" and later appeared on television in "Rooster." That same year, they signed a recording contract with Delta, releasing their first single "Shish Kebab," with "St. Louis Blues" as the B-side. Following this release, the band went on a hiatus and did not perform for some time. Their discography spans from 1962 to 2001, although they were inactive between 1965 and 1994.
