Black Box is an Italian house music band that was founded in the late 1980s by studio musicians. The group became known for their hit tracks but faced legal issues in the early 1990s due to copyright infringement and unauthorized sampled vocals. The band had hired vocalist Martha Wash to lip-sync their tracks during TV performances and stage shows, and she was featured on the cover art. However, they later re-recorded the track with another vocalist. While all other vocals were sung by Wash, Katrin Quinol continued to be credited as the lead singer, lip-syncing to Wash's recorded vocals during performances and in music videos. Wash sued the band, won the case, and was properly credited for her contributions. Katrin Quinol left the group in 1993 and was replaced by another vocalist, who was later replaced as well.
