Black Lodge was the alias of Dan Dwayre, known for his sample-based music released on Mo' Wax and later for his ambient gong albums. He made his Mo’ Wax debut in 2000 with a compilation featured in the Japanese magazine Relax. In 2001, Mo’ Wax released a 12" titled "Horse With No Name," although a planned album never materialized due to the label's shutdown. In 2010, Black Lodge released his debut album on Will Bankhead's Trilogy Tapes label, showcasing a new sound that moved away from samples and focused more on gongs. In 2018, he released MWR157, which included several unreleased tracks from Mo' Wax, and he also uploaded additional archival works to Bandcamp. After teasing new material throughout 2020, Black Lodge collaborated with Jack Lever to release "Enso" in 2022. Unfortunately, Dan Dwayre passed away shortly after.
