Black Sheep is an American hip hop group from New York City, originally formed by members Andres Titus and William McLean. They are part of the lesser-known NYC-based Native Tongues Collective, which includes more prominent groups such as A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Jungle Brothers, and Queen Latifah. The duo gained significant success with their debut album "A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing," released in 1991, featuring popular singles like "Flavor Of The Month," "Similak Child," "Strobelite Honey," and the remixed hit "The Choice Is Yours (Revisited)." Their follow-up album, "Non-Fiction," released in 1994, did not achieve the same level of success, facing a lukewarm critical reception and insufficient support from their record label. It included singles such as "Without A Doubt" and "North South East West." After this album, the group remained relatively inactive throughout the remainder of the decade, although Dres, under the moniker "Dres The Black Sheep," released a solo album titled "Sure Shot Redemption" in 1999. The group made a comeback with their third album, "8WM / Novakane," in 2006. However, shortly after its release, William McLean left the group, while Andres Titus continued to release music under the Black Sheep name.
