Black Uhuru is a renowned roots reggae group formed in 1972 in Kingston, Jamaica. They are one of the most popular reggae acts in history and were the first to win a Grammy. Founded by Derrick "Duckie" Simpson, they gained international fame in the 1980s when they collaborated with the rhythm section of Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare. The group originally featured lead singers, and after the departure of one member, they welcomed younger singers to join their ranks.
