The Black Unity Trio, originally known as the Black Unity Quartet, was formed in Oberlin, Ohio. The group, consisting of Abdul Wadud, Yusuf Mumin, and Hasan Al Hut, performed a limited number of shows between 1968 and 1970, primarily in the Northwest and Northeast Ohio region.
