The Blackbyrds are an American rhythm and blues and jazz-funk fusion group formed in Washington, D.C., in 1973. They were inspired by a prominent trumpeter and released seven original albums along with one remixes compilation between 1974 and 1980. The group reformed in 2012 under the leadership of Keith Killgo. The original members included Allan Barnes (reeds), Barney Perry (guitar), Kevin Toney (keyboards), Joseph Hall III (bass), Pericles Jacobs Jr. (percussion), and Keith Killgo (drums).
