Blanca Rosa Gil, born on August 26, 1937, in Perico, Cuba, is a renowned Cuban bolero singer. She moved to Havana with her family at a young age, where she began singing with her sisters, Rita and Mercedes, in school activities. In 1955, her family sent her to Caracas, Venezuela, where she caught the attention of producer Arístides Borrego at a private party. At just 17, she was hired to perform on a children's program called Smoke and Fantasy and sang regularly at Plaza Cabaret. In 1959, at the age of 21, she was discovered by Cuban businessman Gaspar Pumarejo, who dubbed her "La Muñequita que Canta" and brought her back to Cuba to perform at the Ali Bar Cabaret in Havana. Her debut led to national recognition, and she performed on Cuban radio and television, gaining fame in the capital's cabarets. That same year, she toured Chile, Colombia, and Venezuela, and recorded one of her greatest hits, "I laugh." In 1960, while still on the Ali Bar program, her performances of "Sombras" and "Besos de fuego" became major hits. Blanca recorded long-playing records for several labels, including Modiner, Panart, and Maype, and toured in Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic.
