Blawan, the alias of British DJ and producer Jamie Roberts, was born in 1987 in Doncaster and is currently based in Berlin, Germany. With a decade dedicated to his craft, Roberts has created a unique universe within techno, drawing on his early experiences as a drummer in Barnsley, UK. His productions showcase a natural fluency for rhythm, encompassing various styles from straight beats to syncopated grooves. In addition to his work as Blawan, Roberts has explored other musical avenues under aliases like Kilner and Bored Young Adults, and has collaborated with Pariah as Karenn and with Surgeon as Trade. His diverse discography features releases on notable labels such as Hessle Audio, R&S, Clone’s Basement Series, Hinge Finger, and Black Sun, along with his other solo names on The Trilogy Tapes and Avian. In 2015, Roberts established his own label, TERNESC, which has become the home for his recent releases as Blawan. Since relocating to Berlin, his analogue-driven studio production and powerful live performances have led him to new creative directions, while still maintaining a strong presence in traditional dance floor settings. His full-length album, Wet Will Always Dry, released in June 2018, marks a significant moment in his artistic journey, showcasing his ambitious and nuanced approach to techno.
