Blaze Foley was an American singer/songwriter born on December 18, 1949, in Malvern, Arkansas. He tragically lost his life on February 1, 1989, in Austin, Texas, when he was shot while assisting his friend Concho January in defending himself against his violent son, Carey January. Carey January was later acquitted of first-degree murder by reason of self-defense, which sparked outrage among Foley's friends.
