Blind Blake was an American blues and ragtime singer and guitarist, born in 1896 in Jacksonville, Florida. He passed away on December 1, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Blake recorded approximately 80 tracks in the late 1920s and early 1930s and is recognized as one of the most accomplished guitarists in his genre, showcasing a surprisingly diverse range of material. His complex and intricate fingerpicking has inspired numerous artists, and he is best known for his distinct guitar sound, which closely resembles the style of ragtime piano. Despite his musical contributions, very little is known about his life, with conflicting information regarding his birthplace, as his death certificate lists Virginia.
