Blossom Dearie was an American jazz singer and pianist, born on April 28, 1924, in East Durham, New York. After completing high school, she moved to New York to pursue a music career. She initially dropped her first name and sang in groups such as The Blue Flames with the Woody Herman Orchestra and The Blue Reys with Alvino Rey's band before embarking on a solo career. In 1952, Dearie relocated to Paris, where she formed a vocal group called the Blue Stars. She passed away on February 7, 2009, in New York City.
