**Blow Monkeys Biography** Blow Monkeys is a British band fronted by lead singer, songwriter, guitarist, bassist, and pianist Dr. Robert (born Bruce Robert Howard on May 2, 1961, in Haddington, Scotland). The group formed in 1981 after Howard's return to the UK from Australia, where he had lived from 1976 to 1981. The other band members include Mick Anker on bass guitar, Neville Henry on saxophone, and Tony Kiley on drums (born February 16, 1962). The band released their debut album, *Limping for a Generation*, in 1984, but their first hit single, "Digging Your Scene," came in 1986 from their second album, *Animal Magic*, which reached number 21 in the UK Albums Chart. The single gained attention for its topical lyrics addressing the AIDS-fueled backlash against gay people, peaking at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 12 in the UK Singles Chart, among other international successes. In January 1987, they released their third album, *She Was Only a Grocer's Daughter*, which reached No. 20 in the UK, bolstered by the hit "It Doesn't Have to Be This Way," which peaked at No. 5 in the UK.
