Blue Cheer was a U.S. American rock band formed in 1966 in San Francisco. They are often regarded as one of the first heavy metal bands, particularly noted for their rendition of "Summertime Blues." The band's name was inspired by a popular laundry detergent of the time as well as a potent variety of LSD.
