Blue in Heaven emerged from the remnants of the band Amuse, which consisted of Shane O'Neill, Dave Clarke, Declan Jones, and Dave Long before disbanding in 1981/82. Formed in 1982 in Churchtown, a suburb of Dublin, Ireland, Blue in Heaven signed with Island Records in 1983. Their debut album, "All The Gods' Men," produced by the renowned Martin Hannett, was released on August 25, 1985. The band's second album, "Explicit Material," received critical acclaim, and they performed at the Self-Aid concert on May 17, 1986. After touring with The Cramps in America, Blue in Heaven was dropped by Island Records. They released the "Rock 'n' Roll R.I.P" EP in 1988 on Solid Records, and shortly thereafter, Kieran Kennedy joined the band. Blue in Heaven disbanded in 1989 while working on an album that included a brass section and later reformed as The Blue Angels. The lineup from 1982 to 1987/88 included Dave Clarke on drums, Declan Jones on bass, Eamonn Tynan on keyboards and guitar, and Shane O'Neill on guitar and vocals.
