Bob Collins and the Fabulous Five were a prominent band from Greensboro, North Carolina, known for their lively performances at frat parties throughout the Carolinas and Virginia during the 1960s. They played at various venues, including the Polo Club in Winston-Salem, the Casino in Nags Head, and the National Guard Armoury in Greenville. Their most notable hit, “If I Didn’t Have a Dime” (also known as “Jukebox”), became popular in the mid-1960s and was a cover of a previous minor hit by Gene Pitney. Released on the Greensboro label Jokers 3, this song helped solidify their presence in the music scene. The band was formed in 1961 and had a long history, continuing until 2007, with at least twenty-five members throughout its existence. In January 1968, the lineup included Bob Collins on lead vocals, Tommy Tucker on saxophone, Allen Brewer on bass, Lenny Collins on drums (unrelated to Bob), John Cook on keyboards, and Donny Trexler on lead guitar.
