Bob Marley & The Wailers is a Jamaican reggae band originally formed as a vocal group. The group initially included Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer, later adding a rhythm section consisting of musicians such as Carlton Barrett and Aston Barrett. In 1974, after the departures of Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, producer Chris Blackwell renamed the group Bob Marley & The Wailers and marketed it as a rock band, consisting of a vocalist and an instrumental band. Following Bob Marley's death in 1981, The Wailers continued to record with various artists. Some members of The Wailers formed another group in 1989.
