Bob McFadden and Dor collaborated in the late 1950s, using the pseudonym "Dor" for some of their work. They began their partnership with the single "The Mummy" in 1959, which featured a B-side titled "The Beat Generation" that parodied the emerging literary community of the same name. McKuen later claimed that they were the band used for the recording session, although this has not been widely confirmed. In 1959, McFadden and McKuen also released a full-length album called "Songs Our Mummy Taught Us" under Brunswick Records (54056).
