Bobby Bryant was an American jazz trumpeter and flugelhornist, born on May 19, 1934, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He passed away on June 10, 1998, in Los Angeles, California. Bryant attended the Cosmopolitan School of Music in Chicago from 1952 to 1957 and then freelanced for three years in Chicago, working with various artists and smaller groups. In 1960, he spent time in New York before relocating to Los Angeles, where he permanently settled. Throughout his career, Bryant toured with various groups, led his own ensembles, and played with notable big bands, including those in 1964. He was also active in studio work. As a bandleader, he led big-band recordings for various labels, including one in 1961, two in 1969, and another in 1971, as well as a sextet recording in 1967.
