Bobby Rodríguez y la Compañía is an orchestra formed in 1974, led by Robert "Bobby" Rodríguez, who served as the Director and played the saxophone, transverse flute, clarinet, and piano. The group was active in the salsa scene of New York City during the 1970s. Their style, while firmly rooted in Latin tradition, was significantly influenced by jazz, soul, and funk, and their repertoire included lyrics in English. The orchestra was well-known for performing on Monday nights at the famous Salsa Meets Jazz at the Village Gate. Some of their recognized songs in the salsa genre include "Sonero del Barrio," "Angelina," and "Latin From Manhattan."
