Bobby Rodríguez y la Compañía is an orchestra formed in 1974, led by Robert "Bobby" Rodríguez, who served as its Director and played multiple instruments including the saxophone, transverse flute, clarinet, and piano. The group was active in the salsa scene of New York during the 1970s. While firmly rooted in Latin tradition, their style was significantly influenced by jazz, soul, and funk, and their repertoire included lyrics in English. They were known for their performances on Monday nights at the renowned Salsa Meets Jazz at the Village Gate. Some of their notable songs include "Sonero del Barrio," "Angelina," and "Latin From Manhattan."
