Itacyr Bocato Junior, known as Bocato, is a Brazilian trombonist, songwriter, and arranger born on November 30, 1960, in São Bernardo do Campo, SP. His passion for the trombone began in his teenage years while playing in school bands, which led him to study composition and conducting at the University of São Paulo (USP). As a session musician, Bocato collaborated with many prominent MPB artists, including Rita Lee, Ney Matogrosso, Roberto Carlos, and Elis Regina. He formed his own band, Banda Metalurgia, which released a well-received album in 1982, showcasing dynamic horn arrangements and a blend of Choro, MPB, Samba, Foxtrot, and Traditional Jazz rhythms. After his work with Banda Metalurgia, he partnered with Banda Bloco in 1987 before launching his solo career with the album "Sonho de Um Anarquista." Since then, Bocato has recorded 10 albums and participated in numerous jazz festivals in Montreux, Moscow, and Zurich. He is currently active in TV shows, recording sessions, and his own musical projects.
