Bohren & Der Club Of Gore is a dark jazz band founded in 1992 in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. The group was formed by members of various grindcore, hardcore, and death/doom metal bands in their pursuit of a "unique sound," which they describe as "doom ridden jazz music." Initially named "Bohren," the band expanded its name to "Bohren und Der Club of Gore" in 1993, inspired by a Dutch band that influenced their instrumental music. In 1995, the name was altered to "Bohren & Der Club of Gore." Their first significant release was a demo tape titled "Luder, Samba und Tavernen" in 1993. The current lineup includes Morten Gass on electric guitar, vocals, piano, electric organ, synthesizers, and drums; Robin Rodenberg on bass guitar, double bass, and drums; and Christoph Clöser on saxophones, piano, Fender Rhodes electric piano, vibraphone, and drums. Former members include Reiner Henseleit on electric guitars and Thorsten Benning on drums and percussion.
