Omara “Bombino” Moctar, born Goumour Almoctar on January 1, 1980, in Tidene, Niger, is a talented musician from the nomadic Tuareg community. He experienced political upheaval in his youth, leading his family to flee to Algeria in 1990. During this time, he discovered his passion for music and picked up his first guitar. After returning to Niger, Bombino began playing music professionally. His songs, sung in Tamasheq, often address geopolitical issues affecting the Tuareg people. His electrifying performances capture the spirit of resistance and rebellion, featuring guitar riffs that echo the styles of fellow African musicians Tinariwen and Ali Farka Touré, as well as rock legends Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker, and Jimmy Page.
