Boney M. was created by a German producer and initially featured him performing all vocals on their first single, "Baby, Do You Wanna Bump" (1975). The group was formed to provide a performing troupe for TV appearances, leading to the establishment of its most recognized lineup: Marcia Barrett, Bobby Farrell, Liz Mitchell, and Maizie Williams. Reggie Tsiboe replaced Farrell in 1982. Boney M. is best known for their 1978 hit "Rivers Of Babylon" and enjoyed consistent chart success in Germany and Europe from 1976 to 1984, with million-selling albums and numerous hit singles, including "Daddy Cool," "Ma Baker," "Rasputin," "Mary's Boy Child," "Malaika," and "Kalimba de Luna." Farian announced the end of Boney M. as a recording group in 1986, although a few singles and new tracks have appeared on various 'best of' compilations since then. The group has continued to perform, with all members appearing in their own formations, except for Tsiboe and Farrell, who passed away in 2010.
