Boogiemonsters is an American rap group formed in the Bronx, New York, consisting of rapper Mondo McCann, Alaskan native Vex Da Vortex (Sean Pollard), and Jamaican-born brothers Myntric (Sean Myers) and Yodared (Ivor "Al" Myers). Vex and Mondo met Yodared and Myntric while attending Virginia State University. The group began performing at shows on campus and gained recognition after winning first place at Howard University's renowned Hip-Hop Convention. Following this success, they recorded a demo and started promoting it in New York. In 1994, they were signed by Pendulum/EMI, which released their debut album, Riders of the Storm: The Underwater Album.
