Booker T. Averheart was born on March 20, 1932, in Richland and passed away on March 11, 2004. He attended G. W. Jackson High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he served in France and Germany and received an Honorable Discharge after two years. After his military service, he moved to Dallas and studied at the Booker T. Washington School of Business. As an entrepreneur, he owned and operated Averheart's Motel in South Dallas. Additionally, he pursued aviation at Meechum Airport Aviation School in Fort Worth, earning his VFR pilot certification in 1979. An accomplished musician, Booker T. received royalties and recognition for his musical talents. He was also involved in promoting performances for several celebrity artists. Throughout his life, he was a philanthropist, giving back to the community and supporting individuals in need.
