Boris Vian was a multifaceted French artist born on March 10, 1920, in Ville-d'Avray, near Paris. He was a painter, engineer, jazzologist, actor, trumpeter, columnist, novelist, songwriter, singer, composer, and poet. Vian was a pioneer of French rock 'n' roll during the fifties and served as the artistic director for the record companies Philips and Fontana. He passed away on June 23, 1959, in Paris. He was the father of one and the grandfather of a French DJ and producer.
