Bossa Tres is a Brazilian trio formed in 1961 at Beco das Garrafas, the heart of bossa nova in Copacabana. They gained initial recognition through their performances on The Ed Sullivan Show, where they played for ballet dancers Lennie Dale, Joe Benett, and Martha Botelho. After spending a few years performing at jazz clubs in the United States, the group disbanded their original Brazilian lineup. Pianist Luis Carlos Vinhas, the only member to return to Brazil, reformed Bossa 3 with new musicians. The group went on to release five additional albums and tour various Latin countries.
