Boubacar Traoré, born in 1942 in Kayes, Mali, is a celebrated singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Known by the nickname Kar Kar, which means "the one who dribbles too much" in Bambara, he has a background in soccer. Traoré is a self-taught guitarist who has created a distinctive style that fuses American Blues music, Arab music, and the pentatonic structures characteristic of West Africa's Mande cultural region.
