Brad Osborne was a pivotal figure in the NYC reggae community, having moved from Jamaica in 1969. Initially operating an electronics repair shop in the north Bronx, he later opened Brad's Record Den, where he began retailing imported reggae records and licensing Jamaican recordings in the 1970s. Expanding his influence in the music industry, he established several labels and was responsible for a significant output of reggae releases in the USA, often re-dubbed. Brad successfully recorded visiting Jamaican artists and produced new music with local talent. In the 1980s, he founded a hip-hop imprint. Tragically, he passed away in 1986 following an argument with a customer in his record store, and his business was subsequently passed to a Canadian label.
