Brendan Perry, born on June 30, 1959, in Whitechapel, London, is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist with Irish and English heritage. He began his musical career in New Zealand as a member of the punk rock band The Scavengers, using the pseudonym Ronnie Recent. He continued with the band when they transformed into The Marching Girls in 1979, remaining until 1981. That same year, he joined the influential group Dead Can Dance, recording eight albums with them until their split in 1998. After Dead Can Dance disbanded, Perry collaborated with Hector Zazou on the 1998 album "Lights In The Dark" and worked with former bandmate Peter Ulrich on "Pathways & Dawns," which he co-produced and arranged. His debut solo album, "Eye Of The Hunter," was released in 1999 through his longtime label, 4AD. In 2005, he reunited with Lisa Gerrard for a Dead Can Dance world tour. Brendan Perry previously owned a property in County Cavan, Ireland, which he converted into a recording studio, and he currently resides in France, where he continues to work from his studio.
