Brooklyn Sounds was a salsa dura band based in Brooklyn, NYC, during the 1970s. The band was led by Julio Millan, who served as the leader and first trombone. The lineup included Ray Rivera on second trombone, Tony Ortega on piano, Kelvin Fonseca on bongos, Julio Fonseca on timbales, Willie Villegas on congas (later replaced by Eddie Rodríguez), Alfredo Burgos on bass, Jimmy Cabot on clave and maracas, and Leo Rosado as the vocalist. The band was also known as Los Sonidos de Brooklyn, El Sonido de Brooklyn, and Orquesta Brooklyn Sounds.
