Brooks O'Dell, born in 1933 in Philadelphia, began his singing career in 1955 in Chicago. He became part of a group that often backed Cameo-Parkway artists while working out of Philadelphia. After some time with the Commanders, O'Dell formed the Majestics. He is regarded as a cult figure among soul music aficionados. In the 1970s, he moved to Swamp Dogg's Mankind label, where he collaborated with Freddie North and Doris Duke.
