Broselmaschine is a German folk band formed in Duisburg, co-founded by two musicians in late 1968 in Aachen. The band evolved from local folk musicians and moved into a commune in Aachen. Their name is derived from a device used for crushing hash into small pieces. In 1971, they released their first Folk Rock album. The band went on hiatus in 1973 after two members left for India. Following this, Bursch and Kissmer reformed the band with a different lineup, which changed several times throughout the late 1970s. In the early 1980s, the band was inactive again but was briefly reanimated in 1985. In 2005, Broselmaschine had a third reunion featuring some of the original members.
