Brother Jack McDuff, born Eugene McDuffy on September 17, 1926, in Champaign, Illinois, was an American jazz organist and bandleader. He began his career in the 1950s as a pianist and bass player before transitioning to the Hammond B-3 organ. In the 1960s, he formed his own band, featuring a saxophonist, drummer, and a young guitarist. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, McDuff released several albums on various labels, showcasing his distinctive organ sound. In the late 1970s, he shifted to synthesizers and continued to release albums before returning to the organ for his 1988 comeback album. At the time of his death on January 23, 2001, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, McDuff had just completed recording his final album.
