Brownstone is a female R&B group that gained popularity in the mid-1990s. The original lineup included Nicole "Nicci" Gilbert, Charmayne "Maxee" Maxwell, and Monica "Mimi" Doby. They are best known for their 1995 hit single "If You Love Me," which earned a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance. Other successful tracks include "Grapevyne," "Pass the Lovin'," and their rendition of "I Can't Tell You Why." In 1995, during the promotion of their debut album "From The Bottom Up," Doby left the group and was replaced by Kina Cosper. The group released their sophomore album "Still Climbing" in 1997. Tragically, original member Charmayne "Maxee" Maxwell passed away on February 27, 2015, at the age of 46 due to what has been reported as an accidental fall. The current lineup of Brownstone includes founding member Nicci Gilbert, Arin Jackson, and Alexis Jones.
