Bruce Gilbert is an English musician born on May 18, 1946. He is most famous for being a member of the bands Wire and Dome, as well as for his work as DJ Beekeeper. Gilbert was already 30 years old when he formed Wire, having a background as a former art school student and experience in the British avant-garde music underground of the late 1960s. His unique interests contributed to Wire's distinct sound, setting them apart from other bands of the first wave of U.K. punk. The esoteric leanings of guitarist Gilbert and bassist combined with the more straightforward style of the singer and drummer. Gilbert resigned from Wire in 2004.
