Bruce Haack was a Canadian musician born on May 4, 1931, in Alberta, Canada. He passed away on September 26, 1988, at the age of 57. A pioneer of electronic music during the 1950s and 1960s, Haack was a prolific composer known for his wildly creative works, ranging from electronic children's songs to satanic music. He was also an inventor of unique musical instruments, including the Theremin-inspired Magic Wand and the Dermatron, which utilized the natural conductivity of the human body. His robotic songs set a precedent for Synth Pop artists of the 1970s, such as Kraftwerk and Gary Numan, and his quasi-psychedelic electronic music influenced the Space Rock genre.
