Brunnen is a musical project that emerged in 1989 when Kinkelaar sought to explore a solo endeavor alongside his work with Beequeen. The project aimed to blend song-based material with abstract soundscapes. As Beequeen increasingly incorporated more songs into their music, Brunnen became less prominent, leading Kinkelaar to focus his songwriting within Beequeen albums. Consequently, he ceased recording as Brunnen in 2015 and has since released music under his own name. The name "Brunnen," which means "wells" in German, symbolizes that the music originates from the soul.
