Bruno Nicolai was an Italian composer, conductor, and keyboardist (organ, piano) born on May 20, 1926, in Rome, Italy. He was known for his work as a composer and director of numerous film and television scores, as well as serving as a musical director for other composers' film scores, particularly for Ennio Morricone, Carlo Rustichelli, and Luis Enriquez Bacalov. Nicolai studied piano, organ, and composition at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, where he developed a lasting friendship with a fellow student who also studied under Petrassi. His first film score was for the 1951 film "Il naufrago del Pacifico," which he collaborated on and conducted. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Nicolai scored various films, frequently working with directors such as Jess Franco, Tinto Brass, and Alberto De Martino on their giallo and exploitation films. During this time, he also composed library music for his own labels and others, including RCA. Nicolai's significant break came in 1965 when he served as musical supervisor for Sergio Leone's film "For a Few Dollars More," which was scored by Ennio Morricone. He reprised this role for "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" in 1966. His last score was for the 1988 TV series "La coscienza di Zeno," directed by Sandro Bolchi
