Buddy Moss was an American blues guitarist and vocalist prominent in the Atlanta blues scene. He was born on January 16, 1914, in Jewel, Georgia, and recorded numerous tracks for various labels, including ARC, between 1930 and 1942. Moss frequently collaborated with fellow Georgia blues musicians and played a significant role in the development of the Atlanta and East Coast Blues idioms. In 1935, he was incarcerated for the murder of his wife and was released in 1941, but he struggled to revive his recording career afterward. During the 1960s blues revival, Moss was rediscovered in Atlanta by a field recorder, allowing him to resume performing, although he never regained the level of success he had experienced in his youth. He passed away on October 19, 1984, in Atlanta, Georgia.
