Andrea "Bunky" Skinner and Allan "Jake" Jacobs, known as Bunky & Jake, were prominent figures in the Greenwich Village folk scene during the early 1960s. They met in 1962 at the School of Visual Arts in New York and began performing together, gaining recognition for their harmonies and Jacobs' guitar work. The duo performed at notable venues like the Bitter End alongside artists such as Joni Mitchell and David Steinberg, and were featured in Rolling Stone. In 1965, Jacobs joined the folk-rock band The Magicians, which gained popularity in New York and served as the house band at the Night Owl Cafe. After The Magicians disbanded in 1967, Skinner and Jacobs signed with Mercury Records, releasing their debut album, Bunky & Jake, in 1968, followed by L.A.M.F. in 1969. They also released a children's album, Oo-Wee Little Children, in 2004 on their own B&J Music label. Their music is characterized by an eclectic mix of folk-leaning pop, with themes ranging from acoustic calm to rock & roll vibes. The duo wrote all 11 songs on their debut album. In the 2005 documentary, The Ballad of Greenwich Village, a Bunky and Jake poster is prominently featured.
