The Butthole Surfers are an American experimental rock band formed in 1981 in San Antonio, Texas, by Gibby Haynes and Paul Leary. The band has seen a variety of members over the years, with Haynes and Leary remaining constant since its inception. Other current members include Jeffrey "King" Coffey, who joined in 1983, and Jeffrey Pinkus, who has had two stints with the band from 1986 to 1994 and then again from 2008 to the present. The band has also had several past members, including Teresa "Nervosa" Taylor, who was with the band during multiple periods, and Nathan Calhoun, Owen McMahon, Kytha Gernatt (Cabbage), Mark Kramer, Trevor Malcolm, Terence Smart, Bill Jolly, Brad Perkins, Quinn Matthews, Scott Matthews, Andrew Mullin, and Scott Stevens. The Butthole Surfers are known for their eclectic sound and experimental approach to music.
